How version management works in QBank

Since assets often change over time, QBank allows any media to exist in several versions. This means that you are able to access previous versions of assets at any time, while always making the latest version available.

If an asset exists in several versions, this will be indicated with a number after the Versions section (see below). Unfold the versions list by clicking on it.

How you add a new file version:

  1. To add a new active version of any file stored in QBank, simply navigate to the detail view of an asset. Drag-and-drop the new version on top of it or use the "Upload new version" button.

  2. Click on "New version of current media".

  3. It will trigger the following dialogue-window, where you can either drag a file into the window or browse for a file from your computer. Select if you want to use the current thumbnail for preview and if you wish to set a new title based on the file name. Click "Start upload".

  4. 4. The asset will now be appended as a new version, and will appear under "Versions" (see below). All versions share the same metadata, so any existing metadata will be kept intact.

You can also revert to a previous version

If you need to activate an older version of assets, simply hover over a version and click the "Revert" button. Fill out a revert comment (optional) and confirm. To preserve the version history of asset, a new version will be created containing the selected one.
