2. Browser Connector – Configuration Guide
The Browser Connector (Chrome/Edge) enables direct access to QBank assets within your browser environment. Before users can access and work with the connector, it must be configured correctly inside QBank.
Configuration is done in two main steps:
- Assigning functionalities and access rights through roles and groups.
- Creating and connecting targets — which define what content users can access.
- Functionalities and Access
Admin rights
To allow specific users to manage the connector settings, you need to:
- Navigate to Administration → Roles.
- Add the functionality Admin – Connector to a role.
Assign that role to a group that should have administrative rights for managing connector targets and settings.
User access to the connector
For users to be able to access and use the Browser Connector:
- Go to Administration → Roles.
- Add the functionality Connector – Browser to a role.
- Assign that role to a group that should have access to the Browser Connector.
💡 Note:
If the users do not already have access to any publishing sites, make sure to also add the functionality Publish Sites. This ensures that the connector can reach the correct publishing structure.
- Configuring the Browser Connector
Once the roles and access have been set, the connector itself needs to be configured under Administration → Settings → Connector v2.1.

- Targets
Targets act as smart shortcuts that define what content the connector will display. A target can represent:
- Assets from a specific folder.
- Assets that match a certain filter.
- Assets defined by metadata or other search criteria.
Targets can be connected to one or multiple connectors, allowing tailored access for different teams or workflows.
How to add a new target
- Click Add new target.
- Set a title for the target.
- Select an icon to make it visually identifiable.
- (Optional) Add a description – not currently shown in the connector but useful for documentation.
- Add a publishing site associated with the target.
- Select a default template for how assets should be displayed in the connector.
- If you want to show assets from a specific folder, choose the folder here.
- If you want users to filter assets by specific properties, add the properties under filters.
- If you want to display assets matching a saved QBank filter, add that filter here.
Access to a target
For users to see and use a target in the connector, they must belong to a group that has access to that target.
- Open the target in QBank.
- Under the Access tab, add the relevant group(s).
Connecting a target to the Browser Connector
Finally, link the target to one or several connectors so that it becomes available for users:
- In the target view, navigate to the Connector tab.
- Add the connector(s) that should include this target.
