5.34 - QBank Release notes

Version 5.34 of QBank is released. Some improvements available in your QBank.

Improvements made in QBank in this version:

  • In this release we’ve made even more improvements to our thumbnails. In the previous release 5.31, we introduced an optimized format, and now you can also choose the size of your default thumbnails used by the system.

To manage the size of your thumbnails, simply head over to the Administrator Tab and Settings. In the same section where you can adjust the format, you’ll now find the option to select your preferred thumbnail size.

Improvements connected to our connectors:

Connectors using version 2 connector window:

We're introducing new enhancements to our V2 connector settings, launching soon as V2.1. These updated settings, currently integrated with our browser connector and the new Office 365 connector, gives you greater flexibility and usability.

What’s Changing?

In the previous version, certain limitations and unnecessary complexities made customization difficult. For example:

  • It was not possible to have different settings for each connector—asset availability was the same across both.
  • Customizing what users could see in the connector was only possible at the individual level or had to follow the default setting.

What will be new in V2.1?
With this update, you’ll get:

  • Better tracking of asset usage in each connector.
  • Improved UX/UI with clearer naming conventions , e.g. Categories have been renamed as Targets to avoid confusion with the Categories in Core QBank.
  • The ability to control asset availability per connector (e.g., different assets for browser vs. Office 365).
  • Possibility to add user groups with different asset visibility settings.
  • Connector-specific configurations, such as making folders available in Office 365.

An upcoming enhancement will also enable uploads directly from the connector window.

These updates will simplify asset management and improve the overall user experience across different connectors. The release is coming soon.

Updates in our Sharepoint connector:

A new feature will soon be available in the SharePoint connector, allowing users to utilize SharePoint’s native web parts, Image and Stream, to publish images and videos directly on a SharePoint site. This enhancement strengthens the integration between QBank and SharePoint, making it easier to manage and display digital assets within SharePoint environments.

This is how it will be done:

  • Click on Image (for images) or Stream (for videos) in SharePoint.
  • A dialog box will open.
  • Select Upload in the dialog box.
  • From there, open the QBank connector to select and insert an image or video directly from QBank into SharePoint.

Generic issues reported by customers fixed in this release:

  • QD-6153 – Fixed an issue where the Outro command on templates did not work as expected.
